Integrative Medicine Practitioners
Why? I’ve been studying and training in these areas for the past 20 years because I’m passionate about helping my patients reach their best possible health and well-being.
A few of my areas of expertise are:
Although you may not be aware of this medical jargon, they are essential to my process of diagnosing my patients’ illnesses. Reaching the underlying reason.
Leaky Gut and Gut Dysbiosis: The gut plays a crucial role in immune system function, and disruptions in gut health can contribute to auto-immune conditions. “Leaky gut” (increased intestinal permeability) can allow harmful substances to enter the bloodstream, triggering immune responses.
The vagus nerve serves as a bidirectional communication pathway between the brain and the gastrointestinal tract. This connection is sometimes referred to as the “gut-brain axis.”
The vagus nerve: The vagus nerve has been associated with anti-inflammatory effects. Activation of the vagus nerve may help dampen inflammatory responses in the body. It is a paired nerve, meaning there is one on each side of the body, and it is the longest of the cranial nerves. The word “vagus” is Latin for “wandering,” and this name reflects the extensive distribution of the nerve throughout the body.
Benefits of taking Choline?: What is choline and what does it do? Choline is a nutrient that is found in many foods. Your brain and nervous system need it to regulate memory, mood, muscle control, and other functions. You also need choline to form the membranes that surround your body’s cells.
Micronutrients as Mood Boosters: Micronutrients, which include vitamins and minerals, play crucial roles in various physiological processes in the body, including those that influence mood and mental well-being. I am sure you have never thought about a few drops of iodine daily.
Streptococcal Infections: PANDAS is associated with infections caused by group A streptococcal bacteria, particularly those that lead to illnesses like strep throat. The theory is that in some individuals, the body’s immune system responds to the streptococcal infection by producing antibodies. In some cases, these antibodies may mistakenly target and affect the brain, leading to neuropsychiatric symptoms.
My Integrative Medicine Practitioners collaborate with Mayan healers in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, who make a range of herbal remedies that I utilize on my patients.
